Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has been taken to hospital after collapsing backstage during last night’s main show.
An ambulance was called to Elstree Studios in Borehamwood on Saturday after the dancer began feeling unwell.
Dowden returned to the Strictly line-up in 2024, having missed the previous series after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
A spokesperson for the dancer said that an ambulance “was called as a precaution” and that she is now “feeling much better”.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood just after 21:00 BST on Saturday.
“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene. One patient, an adult female, was taken to Barnet Hospital for further care.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for Dowden said: “Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution.
“She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern.”
He added, “We request that Amy’s privacy regarding health matters be respected.”
Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023 at the age of 32 after finding a lump in her breast the day before leaving on her honeymoon.
The now 34-year-old was re-diagnosed later that same year. She returned to the hospital in August 2024 for further testing, as doctors were concerned about abnormalities in her breast following the test.
In a BBC documentary, she spoke openly about her troubles related to breast cancer. Strictly Amy: Cancer and meWhich was aired in September.
When announcing the documentary she said, “It was an exciting new chapter in my life, but finding a lump on my breast changed my life.”
Despite missing last year’s series due to his illness, Dowden was able to take part in the group dance during the final in December – and this season has been paired with JLS singer JB Gill.
