Coldplay, Diljit Dosanjh concert tickets: ED raids 5 states, finds 'irregularities'

New Delhi: In an effort to deal with illegal ticket sales The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday launched search operations in five states of the country – Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Bengaluru – ahead of the upcoming concerts of Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh. After the raid, the investigating agency said it found ‘irregularities’ in Money laundering check out black marketing Tickets for these events.
This action has been taken following several FIRs lodged in states regarding the alleged sale of fake tickets for much-awaited events.
The raids were aimed at stopping the sale of illegal tickets for Dosanjh’s “Diluminati” tour starting October 26 in Delhi NCR and Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour” to be held at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 18 and 19 next year. But had to be controlled.
“The search and investigation conducted by the ED has revealed information about several persons known to provide such tickets including fake tickets through social media using Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram,” the ED said in a statement. “
The huge demand for tickets has led to black market sales, with fans facing either counterfeit tickets or legitimate tickets at heavily inflated prices. Multiple FIRs have been filed across the country, including BookMyShow’s complaint against several suspects of exploiting concert-goers by selling fake tickets and drastically increasing prices for these popular events.
In response, the ED launched an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on October 25 and conducted searches at over 13 locations in five states – Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Chandigarh.
During these operations, the investigating agency allegedly seized various items including mobile phones, laptops and SIM cards used in fraudulent activities.
The ED investigation has also revealed the alleged involvement of persons distributing fake tickets through social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram.
