A man will appear in court charged with attempted murder after three people were stabbed to death in Dagenham, east London, on Friday.

A 30-year-old woman and two children were found with knife injuries in a house on First Avenue. Metropolitan Police Said.

Kulwinder Ram, 48, of First Avenue, was arrested at the scene and will appear at Barkingside Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police said all parties involved were known to each other.

The woman and children – an eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy – were all taken to hospital for treatment.

None of his conditions are listed as life threatening.

Speaking shortly after the stabbing, Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, responsible for policing in Barking and Dagenham, said it was a “truly shocking” incident.

“The crime scene will remain in place for some time while our officers continue to carry out significant work and you will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days,” he said.
