Haryana Agriculture Department has fixed the selling prices of certified wheat seeds for the upcoming Rabi season 2024-25. According to the instructions issued by the Director of the department, the state government has implemented a subsidy scheme to provide high quality seeds to the farmers at affordable prices. Farmers will be given a subsidy of Rs 1000 per quintal.
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said that the state government is committed to providing financial assistance to farmers and ensuring availability of high quality seeds. The initiative aims to boost crop production in the upcoming season and improve agricultural outcomes. He said that this decision will not only provide high quality seeds to farmers at concessional rates, but will also increase their crop yields.
Wheat Seed Subsidy Details
According to an official press release, the standard selling price of all types of wheat seeds has been fixed at ₹3,875 per quintal. However, to reduce the financial burden on farmers, the government will provide a subsidy of ₹1,000 per quintal, bringing the effective seed price down to ₹2,875 per quintal. The subsidy will not cover C-306 variety and varieties older than ten years from the date of notification.
Special benefits for farmers of Haryana
Certified wheat seeds will be made available in pre-packed 40 kg bags at concessional rates, enabling farmers to easily purchase high quality seeds for the Rabi season. This subsidy will be available especially for the farmers of Haryana. Seeds used by government agencies, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) or for demonstration purposes under any scheme will not be eligible for this subsidy. The department has also clarified that no subsidy will be available on seeds used in promotional activities or other government programs.
To ensure transparency, the department has directed that all transactions be carefully recorded in the sales register at the distribution centers to avoid any disputes in future. Officials have been directed to inform all concerned staff about these instructions to ensure smooth distribution.
