Police, who were searching for a woman missing for almost a week, have found a dead body.
Joanne Jones, 49, had been missing from her home in Pontypridd since Monday.
His body was discovered on Saturday evening and has now been formally identified.
Ms Jones’s next of kin and the coroner have been informed, South wales Police said.
An extensive search was conducted involving multiple agencies. CCTV images were also shared as part of the appeal to find Ms Jones, who was last seen wearing a green coat, walking boots and a black rucksack.
His family have thanked the emergency services and local community members who helped with the search throughout the week.
They have now asked for privacy so they can start recovering their losses.
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Hampton said she wanted to express her sympathies to Ms Jones’ family as “this is a very sad time for them”.
“I would also like to thank our emergency service colleagues and members of the public who assisted our search effort over the past week,” she said.
“I can also confirm that we are not treating Joanne’s death as suspicious.”
