Zaker Ali has been ruled out of Bangladesh’s second Test against South Africa due to injury. Mahidul Islam Ankon has been included in the team in his place. Jekar suffered the injury during training at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.

“Jakar Ali got hurt while batting during practice yesterday [Sunday]Bangladesh physio Bayajedul Islam Khan said. He already has a history of concussion and is still showing symptoms. Given his past concussion record, his recovery may take some time. “Based on the clinical findings, he has been ruled out of the second test.”

Wicketkeeper-batsman Jekar scored a half-century on Test debut in Bangladesh’s second innings in the first Test against South Africa.

He has also played 19 T20Is, making his debut in the format earlier this year.

This is wicketkeeper-batsman Mahidul’s first appointment in the Bangladesh team. He has played most of his first-class matches for the Dhaka Division and has scored all three centuries for the NCL team. He has also played one match for Bangladesh A against Pakistan A in August this year.

Mahidul has come into the team on the back of good form, having scored 118 runs against Sylhet Division last week.

Earlier, the selectors had also called fast bowler Khalid Ahmed in place of Taskin Ahmed.
